As the founder of Lafrenière Fiscalité inc., Steve Lafrenière strives to exceed his clients' expectations. Moreover, he often achieves this goal owing to his twenty years of experience within the accountancy industry.
His initial professional role was as an assistant financial controller in Europe for a service provider within the reinsurance sector. When he returned to Canada, he joined a CPA firm as a trainee. The majority of his early assignments involved auditing financial statements. After he attained CPA Québec minimum auditing experience requirement, he shifted his focus towards taxation.
He has both a passion to optimize his clients' tax structure and a drive to represent them in dealing with tax authorities. His future clients will definitely benefit from the fact that he has a diverse client base. Small to medium-sized business owners will feel supported by him during their journey to success as so many others.
For the major portion of his career, he has represented taxpayers with elaborate tax compliance requirements and intervened in tax disputes. He regularly negotiates with the Canada Revenue Agence and Revenue Québec with his clients' best interest in mind. His knowledge of tax laws and regulations allows him to efficiently protect his clients' rights. Many of his assignments require knowledge of international taxation rules and regulation.
Other typical engagements include participating in corporate tax reorganizations, after-tax financial planning and tax credit application for innovative activities.
Recognizing that tax laws are constantly evolving as governments adopt new budgets on a yearly basis, Steve Lafrenière is keen on constantly updating his knowledge. As such, he spends a lot of his time reading tax publications issued by both the "Association de planification fiscale et financière" ("APFF") and the Canadian Tax Foundation ("CTF").
Steve Lafrenière completed an undergradute degree in Business Administration. Subsequently, he obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation ("CFA") as well as the Chartered Professional Accountant ("CPA") designations.
Later, he obtained a Master in Taxation from Sherbrooke University.
